What is this video?
This is a 45-minute workshop in which a SAFe® Practitioner Consortium Trainer (SPCT) walks through the exact artifact set used to launch a working Agile Release Train (ART) in 14 weeks at a tier-2 P&C insurance carrier. The ART covered 8 teams, 90 engineers, and 4 product managers, and it delivered its PI Objectives at PI 1, not PI 3.
If you are planning a Scaled Agile Framework rollout and want to see what the first quarter actually looks like, this session is the playbook rather than the pitch.
How long does a SAFe® ART launch take?
A SAFe® ART launch typically takes 12 to 16 weeks from discovery to a first PI Planning event that produces committed PI Objectives. In this case it ran 14 weeks. The video maps that window week by week, so you can see where the time goes and where most launches stall.
What does the video cover?
The walkthrough follows the live launch in sequence:
- Week one discovery checklist. What to confirm about teams, dependencies, and tooling before any training is scheduled.
- Value Stream identification. Mapping the development value stream with the executive sponsor in the room, so the ART is drawn around real flow rather than the org chart.
- PI Planning facilitation cadence. Running PI Planning for distributed teams across three time zones without losing alignment.
- Lean Portfolio Management funding. Connecting the ART to LPM funding so it has executive air cover by month three instead of fighting for budget every quarter.
- The SPC handoff plan. How we trained 4 internal SPCs alongside the launch so the carrier could run the next PI without us in the room.
Who should watch this?
This session is built for the people accountable for a Scaled Agile rollout: Release Train Engineers, transformation leads, agile program offices, and the executive sponsor funding the work. The detail is concrete enough for practitioners and clear enough for the sponsor deciding whether to commit.
